The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team of the Pueblo Police Department is being re-structured.
The number of officers on the team has been cut in half and those members selected.
The mission of the team remains the same, to protect life. But an emphasis will be placed on ongoing training consistent with National Standards.
The team is part-time with officers assigned to various Divisions and Units of the Department. But they will form as one high performing team during crisis situations.
A recent consultant’s report highlighted problems in the Pueblo Police Department and recommended the SWAT Team be restructured.
The unit will undergo initial operational training and will then be placed on a recurrent training schedule to maintain their proficiency.
