A Pueblo man was tased and arrested after police say they caught him stealing from an area grocery store.
According to Pueblo Police, on Monday, officers responded to Safeway on the southside of Pueblo because of a theft in progress.
An officer contacted store security when they arrived. Security advised police that they were watching a man in his early 20s, later found to be 21-year-old Joseph Trujillo, stealing items from the store.
Police saw Trujillo grabbing items off the shelves and hiding them in his jacket, reports say. When confronted, police report Trujillo refused to be placed in cuffs. That's when they tased him.
Trujillo and two officers were transported to the hospital after Trujillo allegedly brandished a knife at them. The suspect also had an active arrest warrant in El Paso County. He is additionally charged with theft, resisting arrest and second degree assault on a peace officer.
