Pueblo County Lifts Fire Restrictions

Stage I fire restrictions have now been lifted in Pueblo County starting at 5:00 Thursday afternoon.

The County Sheriff’s Office says that residents of the county are now permitted to have fires for yard debris, agricultural needs, and recreation. Agricultural and yard debris burns are always prohibited in within the City of Pueblo, but the lifted restrictions will allow use of open flames like tiki-torches and chimineas.

The City and County decided to lift the restrictions after meeting together and reviewing fire data with area fire chiefs. The data consulted included the moisture content of potential fuels, anticipated weather patterns available firefighting resources, and recent fire history.

If the fire danger increases again this summer, the City and County report they will be ready to bring the restrictions back.
