A 9-year-old is dead after the driver of the vehicle the child was riding in fell asleep at the wheel.
Five people total were riding in the Ford Explorer when it went off road and hit a light pole, rolling twice before coming to rest in a field. The others in the vehicle were injured, but police do not think the injuries were serious.
The accident occurred at 4:48 a.m. on the south end of Pueblo, exit 94 on northbound I-25. The occupants of the vehicle were from out of state.
11 News is remaining in contact with Pueblo police, and will provide further updates as they become available.
