Police are asking for help to find two women who reportedly scammed an elderly woman out of $9,000.

The elaborate scam apparently started when the victim was approached outside of a Pueblo Walmart by a Hispanic woman who started speaking to her in Spanish. The second scammer then reportedly walked up and offered to translate.

The first woman allegedly claimed that she had a lottery ticket worth several million dollars, but couldn't cash it because she is an illegal alien.

The three woman then called a number on the back of the ticket and spoke to a man on speakerphone. After talking with the man in Spanish, the second suspect reportedly told the victim the man said the woman with the ticket needed two people with valid IDs and a lump sum of cash in order for her to claim the prize because she was not a legal resident of the U.S.

The suspects, who were pretending not to know each other, then allegedly convinced the victim to go to the bank and withdraw $9,000, which she put in her purse. The victim then drove the suspects to another bank, where the second suspect was supposed to withdraw money.

The two women left, and never came back. The victim says she discovered the envelope with her money had been replaced with a regular envelope containing regular paper that was cut to the size of dollar bills.

The suspects are accused of crimes against an at-risk-adult and felony theft.

Police provided a surveillance picture of the two suspects. The first is described as a Hispanic woman, 35 to 40 years old with brown hair and gray or green eyes. She was wearing a blue jacket and black pants. The second suspect is also described as a Hispanic woman between 35 and 40 years old. She had long black hair and was wearing a black tank top.

Anyone with information is asked to call Pueblo Crime Stoppers at 542-STOP.
