A woman driving the wrong way on a busy Pueblo highway may have been drinking before she got behind the wheel, according to police.
Just before 8:45 p.m., police say a woman was seen driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of Highway 50 West with her headlights turned off. Witnesses told police she nearly hit two other vehicles before crashing head-on into a Dodge pickup truck.
Both drivers were seriously injured and remain in the hospital in critical condition. The passenger in the truck was treated for more moderate injuries and has been released from the hospital.
The crash shut down eastbound Highway 50 West near the Pueblo Municipal Airport for several hours. The roadway was reopened early Tuesday morning.
Police say that they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, but are still investigating.
