A hit-and-run suspect, briefly believed to be in Pueblo, was arrested in Bellingham, Wash. Friday afternoon.
Police say she's connected to a hit-and-run in Oregon.
Ashley Chavez, 23, is wanted for the hit-and-run death of 63-year-old Nancy Schoeffler in March of this year. Portland, Ore. police say Schoeffler was crossing the street when she was hit by a car. The driver sped away from the area after the collision.
Two months after the accident, Chavez was identified as the driver. When police attempted to arrest her Tuesday, they learned she had fled the state. Police initially suspected she had fled to Pueblo, where she has ties.
Friday, Chavez was seen leaving a restaurant, and was taken into custody.
Monday, the alleged passenger in the crash, Angela Kaps-Collins, was arrested for tampering with physical evidence and hindering prosecution. Portland CBS affiliate KOIN reports that Kaps-Collins is accused of hiding the vehicle involved the crash in a barn in rural Oregon.
