Sun Glare May Have Caused Fatal Crash

A collision in Pueblo has ended tragically after one man succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident.

Joseph S. Angeli, 21, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Parkview Medical Center. The county coroner says he suffered multiple traumatic injuries.

Police say the victim was approaching a red light at Santa Fe Drive and Northern when he crashed into the back of a large truck. The truck was stopped at the time of the accident, and the driver was uninjured.

Eastbound Santa Fe Drive was closed for two hours, but has since reopened.

Police say visibility was poor in the area due to the glare from the sun, and believe that may have played a role in the accident. Drugs, alcohol, and speeding are not suspected factors.

My prayers go out to the family for their loss but if this young man would have been going the speed limit he would probably be alive. I was traveling the same road on Santa Fe and he blew by me well above the limit.
