Investigators say an officer was forced to shoot a man after he aimed a gun at police during a domestic violence call in Pueblo late Wednesday night.
Police say that when they arrived at a home on the 1600 block of Jackson Street at 10:30 p.m., they heard a gunshot coming from inside. After rushing in, they found a 23-year-old man holding a gun and two women. Officers say the man had been threatening the women with his weapon before firing at one of them.
Officers confronted the man and ordered him to drop his gun. The police department said that instead of complying, the suspect pointed his gun at the officers. One of the officers was then forced to shoot the suspect.
The suspect died at the scene. He has not been identified at this time.
The women in the home were uninjured.
The 10th Judicial District Critical Incident Team is now handling the investigation.
