A big announcement came Monday; one that will bring over 100 new jobs to Pueblo.
The southern Colorado city was selected to be the location of a new Colorado production facility.
Rocla Concrete Tie, Inc. is the nation’s largest producer of pre-stressed concrete rail road ties. It selected Pueblo to be the new home of their largest facility in the country.
Officials hope to start construction immediately and open it in the fourth quarter of this year.
The announcement Monday was made in conjunction with the Pueblo Economic Development Corporation (PEDCO).
The plant will eventually employ more than 100 people when it’s fully up and running. It will be located on property purchased in the St. Charles Industrial Park on the south side of the city near the current Vestas Wind Systems plant.
Rocla officials say that the technology that will be used at the Pueblo plant to produce its ties has evolved during the company’s 25 year history. They say the plant will be able to produce between 750,000 to one million ties per year when at full capacity.
