There will be a neighborhood cleanup event in Bessemer on April 27 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
During the cleanup, residents may dispose of tree and shrub trimmings cut 6 feet or less, old scrap appliances, passenger tires, scrap lumber, mattresses and old furniture.
Yard waste, such as leaves, weeds, and cut grass must be bagged.
Food and packaging garbage, household hazardous waste or liquids, TVs, computers, refrigerators, freezers or air conditioners will not be accepted.
Participants must pre-purchase tickets to dispose of waste at the clean-up.
A limited number of seniors and disabled residents, without any means of delivery, may request curbside pick-up assistance by signing up when they purchase their tickets.
Tickets are on sale now through Friday, April 26 and cost $15 per pick-up truck load. There is a limit of two tickets per address. Used tires are $2 each and there is a limit of 12 per load.
