The Drowsy Chaperone (Don Ward)

A mobile home fire southwest of the Pueblo Airport sent a plume of smoke high into the air Friday afternoon.
The home involved is located about one-half mile away from the airport along Highway 96 East.
The Pueblo Rural Fire Department responded to the scene. They found an abandoned double-wide mobile home where someone was working Friday morning to turn it into a utility trailer. Some of the tools were left hot and sparked the fire.
Because there are no hydrants in the area, the firefighters had to shuttle between the closest hydrant and the home.
