Man At Center Of Baby Abuse Case Returns To Court

A man accused of abusing an 8-month-old baby found with cocaine in his system will return to court Thursday.

The child fought for his life after suffering multiple skull fractures and ingesting cocaine. According to court documents, the child's mother found her son limp and discolored after waking up from a nap at her friend Lawrence Tenorio's home in Pueblo back in April.

Documents say that Tenorio insisted the boy was fine, and told the mother, Andrea Martinez, there was no need to go to the hospital. Martinez disagreed and took the baby to the ER, where he was found to have suffered three skull fractures, multiple fracture fragments, and internal head swelling and hemorrhaging.

Arrest papers say that Tenorio told the mother that he was trying to get the boy to walk alongside the living room couch when his dogs knocked the child down.

In an exclusive interview with 11 News, an emotional Tenorio said he was stunned at the allegations that he intentionally harmed his friend's 8-month-old son.

"It makes me so emotional because I don't even like to hurt kids' feelings. And they are making me out to be a monster, like I hurt this baby. And I would never hurt a baby...I have a son of my own,” Tenorio said.

11 News will let you know what happens in court.
