A dive team has recovered the body of a 50-year-old man who drowned while swimming in a lake Wednesday afternoon.
Two friends were on the shore at Runyon Lake in Pueblo, but couldn't save him. Pueblo police said they didn't know how to swim.
The Pueblo Fire Department sent out rafts in the area, but it wasn't until the Pueblo County Dive Team came that they were able to pull the victim's body from the water. Police say they found him just 10 feet from shore.
Signs posted at the lake say no swimming is allowed. 11 News spoke to the victim's family who said they are pretty surprised he was in the water at all. They said he typically came to the lake to walk around or fish.
Officers later said the man may have jumped into the lake. Police haven't released the name of the victim.
