Maes Counting on Tea Party Support in Southern Colorado

Republican gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes is counting on tea party support during a gubernatorial debate in southern Colorado.

Maes' spokesman Nate Strauch says several tea party groups are planning to attend the debate Tuesday being held by The Pueblo Chieftain at the Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center in Pueblo.

Strauch says one of the top issues in southern Colorado is the allocation of water throughout the state.

Maes is running against American Constitution Party candidate Tom Tancredo and Democrat John Hickenlooper.

I agree, Maes should bow out. I don't know if I can be classified as a "teapartier" but I originally would have voted for Maes, but now, I'm leaning toward Tancredo. It amazes me where these "polls" come from, as most of my friends have never been asked their opinions, nor I for mine.

I agree with Nath. Maes needs to bow out, otherwise Hickenlooper will win. Colorado does NOT need another Liberal Gov. This fight between Maes and Tancredo is splitting the conservative vote. One or the other needs to let their ego go, and bow out!

Maes is dreaming, Tancredo is picking up endorsements of Tea Partys in other areas of the State as well as from several present and former Republican office holders and a few Democrats. The focus now should be on defeating Hickenlooper and Tancredo is the one who is now in the position to do that.
