Republican gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes is counting on tea party support during a gubernatorial debate in southern Colorado.
Maes' spokesman Nate Strauch says several tea party groups are planning to attend the debate Tuesday being held by The Pueblo Chieftain at the Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center in Pueblo.
Strauch says one of the top issues in southern Colorado is the allocation of water throughout the state.
Maes is running against American Constitution Party candidate Tom Tancredo and Democrat John Hickenlooper.
