Pueblo Police Detectives say they’ve arrested a man for allegedly hitting his elderly landlady in the head with a hammer on Christmas Day.

Officers originally responded to a report of an assault at 2101 Wyoming Ave in Pueblo around 6pm. The initial report was of a disturbance between Albert Hayes and his upstairs neighbor, an elderly woman who is his landlord.

Detectives say Hayes was alleged to have hit her in the head with a hammer.

The victim was taken to the hospital, and detectives didn't know her condition. Her name was not provided.

Hayes was arrested for attempted 1st degree murder and is currently being held without bond in the County Jail.

This is nothing to laugh about or make jokes about as it is very tramatic to my sister. Leonard had no right to break into the upstairs house and hit her on the head with a hammer - there are other ways to handle matters. She has suffered a terrible blow and had to have her hair removed and her head cut open to remove skull chips from her brain. He has lived there for almost 6 years and yes he is the type to do this as he is guilty of doing it. He even admitted it that he thought he killed her.

There's more to this story then what's being told. Leonard isn't the type of guy to do something like this. Obviously you don't know him.

What? Hit in the head with a hammer is just run-of-the-mill to you? Possible penalty for attempted 1st degree murder...48 years. Not news? I'd hate to hear what has to happen for you to consider something newsworthy.
