The Colorado Department of Transportation is replacing unsafe bridges in Southern Colorado.

That includes the I-25 and Ilex bridge in Pueblo.

CDOT says the bridge is not structurally sound. There are pieces underneath the bridge that have fallen off.

The project will begin in November and it will cost $33 million.
CDOT says the I-25 bridge will be wider and all the old infrastructure will be replaced.

It is part of the new Pueblo freeway project which will reconstruct I-25 throughout the city.

CDOT says other highway bridges that collapsed caused them to look into the safety of our bridges here in Colorado.

The project will last from November of this year to October 2015.
