Homeowners in one neighborhood want answers tonight. Heavy rains this week forced a dam to break, flooding their property in Pueblo West.

“All this was underwater, just completely under water,” Michael Wise explained.

Wading through the current in his front yard, Michael Wise witnessed large rocks from his property washing down the street.

“I knew how strong the water was because actual boulders were hitting my feet,” Wise said.

The water washed away chunks of his driveway and he says his landscaping has to be replaced but Wise wants to know who will foot the bill.

“I don’t want a million dollars worth of landscaping, even if they dump the rock and I do the work, I just want it back to the way it was.”

Wise also questions why the dam was allowed to be built in front of a neighborhood subdivision. 11 News tried contacting the owner of the dam, Gary Walker but there was no answer.

Wise fears if the dam isn’t fixed and this continues to be over-looked the next time it rains it’ll be more than just yards at stake.

“If we get another six inch rain like we had six years ago all these houses will be underwater, his house and mine.”

Officials with the Pueblo West Metro District tell 11 News that Monday’s storm run-off was an act of God and that there is not much they can do.
