A Pueblo middle school remains on "modified secured perimeter status" while local law enforcement conducts an investigation.
This is the second day in a row that the school is operating under this status.
District 60 tells 11 News that the measure is strictly a precaution, and all students at Heaton Middle School, are safe. The school placed itself on secured perimeter status at 9 a.m. Wednesday on law enforcement's recommendation. It remains on modified secured perimeter status Thursday as the investigation continues.
Pueblo police say the investigation may concern a domestic situation, but that the investigation is under the sheriff's office's jurisdiction. We are still trying to reach the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office for confirmation.
The district says that if parents need to come to the school for anything, bring appropriate ID.
