Groundbreaking For New Garden Along Historic Riverwalk

One Southern Colorado city is adding a splash of color to their downtown as new plants take root along the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk. With shovels in hand volunteers marked the official ground breaking for Pueblo’s newest garden. The project includes adding a terraced rock wall, shrubs, trees, perennials and new irrigation. It’s all part of the HARP Renovation Project. The Johnston family provided funding and the “Wednesday Weeders” club are the ones planting the flowers. Organizers say the new landscaping will be a great addition to downtown.

“We hope it helps with tourism and its planned and designed to have color from spring to fall so hopefully it will bring more people down to take a look and see what’s going on with the Water Wise Garden," said Barbara Vidmar with HARP Foundation.

They hope to have the garden finished by mid-June. It will be located between Kelly Falls and the Professional Bull Riders Building.
