Two suspects are caught in a rash of storage unit burglaries and now investigators say they have quite a bit of unclaimed stolen items.
The suspects are accused of stealing nearly $200,000 dollars in items in Fremont county. Detectives conducted a six month investigation before making the two arrests. They say the two suspects are 29 year old Timothy Roath and his girlfriend, 46 year old Audrey Urban. Authorities believe the two are responsible for more than twenty burglaries. They say the suspects stole from storage units and businesses in Canon City and the surrounding communities.
Back in May of this year detectives recovered stolen property from two large self storage units in Fremont County. The items range from motorcycles to sporting goods, as well as tools, electronics and household items. But detectives were able to return only $20,000 dollars worth of stolen items back to their owners who filed police reports. That means more than $180,000 dollars worth of recovered items still needs to be claimed. If you have a storage unit in Fremont county or the surrounding counties you are asked to check your property and report any missing items to local law enforcement.
Roath and Urban are currently being held in the Fremont county jail on numerous burglary and theft charges.
