Forged traveler’s checks were passed at one Pueblo-area business, and now detectives are asking other businesses to check if they were given any of the fake documents.
Pueblo police say that the Target at 3300 Dillon Drive received eight of the forged Master Card traveler’s checks. The suspect, Laquianeshia Rogers, allegedly passed eight of the forged $100 checks at that store. She walked out with $167.79 in merchandise and the remainder in cash.
All of the fake checks bore a routing number indicating it was issued by the Union Bank of California.
Rogers was arrested on January 9 in Grand Junction after passing the same forged traveler’s checks at a Target there. She is charged with eight counts of forgery and theft.
Target stores believe she also passed the forgeries at stores in New Mexico, Arizona and California.
Any businesses that believe they received the forged Master Card Traveler’s Checks are asked to please contact Detective Donnie Lambert with the Pueblo Police Department at 719-553-2533.
