The occupant of a house in Pueblo was able to get out safely after her smoke alarm went off, but her two dogs weren't as lucky.

Both dogs were lethargic and struggling to breathe when firefighters got on scene Wednesday night.

Firefighters resuscitated the dogs using special masks made for animals. Both dogs were eventually able to breathe on their own again, and are expected to be fine.

The fire reportedly started in the kitchen at the south Pueblo home. The exact cause is under investigation.
