Police say they have taken one suspect into custody in connection with a fatal shooting last Thursday night.
Police say that based on witness statements, a fight broke out between two groups in the middle of the street. As the fight escalated, shots were fired, striking two people.
Those involved had been at a gathering on the 1300 block of E. Routt in Pueblo.
Police say both victims were taken to the hospital in private vehicles. One of the victims succumbed to his injuries after arriving at the hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Caleb Cosby, 22. The second victim, who is currently recovering from gunshot wounds, has been identified as Shannon Charter, 28.
Police have identified the suspect as Jerid Lee Salazar, 19. An arrest warrant was issued for first-degree murder and police say he was taken into custody just before midnight Monday at the jail.
A person of interest was announced as "Jose," no last name, who was reportedly with Salazar when the shooting occurred. Police say he has now been identified.
