A hearing for a father accused of murdering his 8-year-old daughter was postponed Thursday, and will now be held in March.
John French Jr. faces first-degree murder charges after his daughter Desirea French was found shot in the head in April of last year.
Desirea's body was found by her grandfather inside her home at Oakwood Estates Mobile Homes around 7 p.m. April 10 on East Colorado 96 in Pueblo County. Detectives said that it appeared Desirea's body had been lying there for some time.
French Jr. was found in another room, also shot twice in the back of the head. After being rushed to the ER, the arrest affidavit says French admitted to shooting himself.
The affidavit goes on to say French Jr. told detectives that he and his daughter were alone in the home that day and were not arguing. When detectives asked him why he would do this, he allegedly told them says he was depressed and did not want to be here anymore.
