A driver lost control of his vehicle while driving in Pueblo overnight and flipped his SUV over railroad tracks running alongside the interstate.
An 18-year-old was thrown out of the vehicle and landed on the tracks in the path of an oncoming train. The train was unable to stop in time and ran over the teen.
He has been identified as Eric Valasquez.
The vehicle landed in trees off to the side of the railroad tracks. The other occupants, both 16, survived the accident and were taken to the hospital. One remains in the ICU with life-threatening injuries.
The accident happened along I-25 just north of the 13th Street exit around 12:40 a.m. Pueblo police are still investigating the crash, but say speed appears to have played a major role. It's still unknown who was driving the vehicle.
