The Colorado State Patrol believes falling asleep at the wheel may be the cause of a fatal accident early Saturday morning.
CSP says a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Highway 50 Business, outside Pueblo, when it drifted into the westbound lane and off the road, striking a utility pole. The force of the collision caused the truck to spin.
Thirty-four-year-old James Patti of Aurora, the only person in the truck, died at the scene. CSP says he was not wearing his seatbelt.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the accident. At this time, authorities think Patti fell asleep while driving.
