The Evraz Rod and Bar facility in Pueblo was shut down Tuesday after a workplace death.
According to company spokesperson Melodie Ruse, the fatality occurred around noon. The victim, an employee, was struck by a piece of "mobile equipment," causing fatal injuries.
The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office has clarified that the equipment was a forklift the 53-year-old victim was using to move materials. The man was pronounced dead in the St. Mary Corwin Emergency Room.
Ruse was unable to provide additional information, saying that an internal investigation will be completed first.
The Sheriff's Office says that all indications suggest this is a tragic accident.
The facility is located at 2100 S. Freeway in Pueblo, CO. It manufactures wire rod and coiled reinforcing bar.
