A father and his young son managed to escape a devastating house fire unharmed Saturday afternoon, although the home itself is believed to be a total loss.
Intense flames and heavy smoke could be seen for blocks as the fire spread from the first floor to upper levels of the house, located on 1022 W. 13th St. The call came in around 4:45 p.m.
Though the 5-year-old boy and his father were uninjured, his mother had to be treated for smoke inhalation. She had been at work when the fire broke out, and returned home when she was notified of the fire.
The cause of this fire is under investigation.
