A southern Colorado pediatric therapy center is asking for your help this holiday season. They don't want you dollars, they just want your vote.

The Pueblo Pediatric Therapy Center works with 115 children who have special needs. The family-friendly atmosphere is changing the lives of not only the children but their families as well, according to at least two parents who use the service.

Since they opened their doors in 2009, the center has seen explosive growth. They specialize in the treatment of infants and children who were born premature, or who suffer from prenatal drug exposure, autism, sensory processing/integration disorders, learning disorders, neurological deficits, motor/coordination issues, developmental differences, self-care/functional delays, and feeding issues.

Christine Musso's twins, Dallas and Morgan, both work with the center's owner, Kathy Schleifer. While Morgan is a typical child without issues, her brother Dallas suffers from being unable to fully control his left side. The two were born three months premature, Dallas had bleeding in his brain prior to birth.

In the last five years, Schleifer has been able to get Dallas up to speed with his sister. "He was kind of upset when he was little. He would get frustrated because he couldn't do things that his sister was doing," says Musso. Dallas has improved so much so, the two youngsters act like perfectly normal siblings despite his physical challenges.

Schleifer says, she does the work because she loves children. "I want these children to be able to be the best that they can be," says Schleifer.

But accomplishing that requires equipment that costs a significant amount of money, and can be difficult in this economy.

There is a ray of hope, however. The center is currently in the running for a Pepsi Refresh Grant. The soda maker is giving away grants to the ideas that rack up the most votes every month. The center is shooting for a $25,000 grant, but they need all of our help to win it.

Voting can be done two ways, online or by phone.

Texting 104364 to pepsi at the number 73774 will register one vote per day. You can also vote online, once per email account per day. Click the links below to go to the voting site. You will have to register, but remember you can register with multiple email accounts. You have to be at least 13 to vote online.

As of Tuesday, December 7, the center is ranked 102. In order to win they will need many more votes.

Remember you can vote every day, once per email account, or by texting 104364 to 73774.

Helping the center can be a free and easy thing to do this holiday season, take it from a parent of a child they work with. "I pray that people see this and people vote for them, because if any organization deserves it, it's them," says Musso.
