A Chevy Malibu ran a red light near Pueblo West Friday night, crashing into a Chevy Tahoe and seriously injuring a 4-year-old girl, who was ejected from the Tahoe.
Troopers say the Malibu hit the Tahoe on the passenger side, forcing the Tahoe to spin out of control.
According to Colorado State Patrol, the Malibu's driver, 56, is now being investigated for driving under the influence of drugs.
The crash occurred at 8:17 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 50 and Purcell, and shut down southbound Purcell for two hours.
In addition to the 4-year-old, who has been transported the Children's Hospital in Denver, the 92-year-old passenger in the Malibu was seriously injured. She was transported to Parkview Hospital. The other passengers in the Tahoe sustained minor to no injuries.
CSP asks that people refrain from getting behind the wheel if taking prescription drugs.
