A briefcase found in a Pueblo yard caused a scare Sunday morning.
The woman who found the briefcase was suspicious about it being tossed in her yard, and called police. Pueblo police tell 11 News that the briefcase was "heavy duty...not standard looking," which further aroused suspicions. The bomb squad was called to the scene, on the 1500 block of Alexander Circle, as a precaution.
Eventually, police determined that the briefcase may have been stolen. An investigation revealed that juvenile prowlers had broken into a vehicle on the same block overnight; a ledger was later found in the road that led police to the owner of the briefcase. The owner identified the briefcase as his; the briefcase was then checked out and deemed safe.
At this time, no other vehicle break-ins on the street have been reported.
