The suspect in a murder in Pueblo turned himself in to police Monday evening.

David L. Luna Murder Suspect

Update: The daughter of the victim, Melissa Lucero has been located and has talked to police. Afterward she was released. The Pueblo Police Department says, any charges against Lucero will be filed by the District Attorney's office after they review the case.

The suspect in the murder of 49-year old Richard Maes turned himself in to Pueblo police Monday evening at about 9:15 p.m.

The suspect is 22-year old David L. Luna.

Police say they have not yet made contact with the victim's daughter, 18-year old Melissa Lucero. She's described as Luna's girlfriend, and witnesses say she was in the car with Luna when her father was shot.

Maes was shot several times in the chest this afternoon.

Witnesses say Maes stopped at a stop sign at 8th and Midtown Circle in Pueblo and a blue Neon pulled up beside him.

The witnesses say Maes got into an argument with the people in the car and was shot after he got out of his own vehicle.

The blue Neon took off and was found later in a garage 1007 W. 11th St.

I'm sorry, but there is something that is simply wrong with this post: Posted by: John "the leetle dogs........... Luna looks like your everyday, average, garden variety gutter coward punk scumwad. Pure living skunk snot." Then, he goes on with this piece of litterary art: "Decent individuals such as myself...this leetle dog greaser." How does being hateful and/or racist make this person a "decent individual?"

No people!! It's a shame that the public only gets to hear one side of the story!! Take it from someone who's known him (the so-called "victim") for 20 years.

kktv, I posted an analytical and critical thinking type of comment on here and once more, you don't put it on. Looks like the only comments you accept on here are emotionally, racial and ignorant charged type of reponses where nobody has to think. So basically you're only here to sheep the people on with how you think, and how people should respond and think to a situation that you report. kktv YOU'RE A JOKE!!

I wonder if the daughter and boyfriend decided to kill her dad so that they could be together. Maybe the boyfriend argued with the dad over that and shot him. Shooting someone multiple times in the chest is just over kill. I hope he gets life without parole and if the daughter/girlfriend is apart of it in any way that she also gets life without parole.

Ah....., the leetle dogs........... Luna looks like your everyday, average, garden variety gutter coward punk scumwad. Pure living skunk snot. Hope the police do society a favor and take him out. Decent individuals such as myself who number into the tens of millions are tired of arrests, arraignments, public defenders, all the fees associated with rounding up worthless thugs like this, not to mention plea deals and the endless apologists. C'mon police, do society a favor and off this leetle dog greaser.
