The Colorado Springs and Pueblo police departments are searching for a suspect that they've dubbed the "shh" bandit for his unusual method of robbing stores.
Detective Jeff Furney says this man is responsible for a spree of robberies in Colorado Springs and Pueblo since January.
The Colorado Springs Robbery Unit has labeled the robbery suspect as the “Shhh …. Don’t Say Anything Bandit” because every time the suspect robs a Walgreen Store he puts his finger to his mouth and tells the clerk “Shhhh... don’t say anything.”
Police say he hit the Walgreen Store at 1811 US Hwy 50 West, around 8:50 p.m. in Pueblo on Friday, March 12. Police say he walked in, picked up a can of Arizona Ice Tea and then walked to the front check out stand as though he had planned on paying for the tea. Once the clerk opened the register the suspect leaned forward and whispered "shhh... don't say anything", then told her he had a gun and demanded money. The suspect got away with an unknown amount of cash.
The suspect is described as being a Hispanic male, approx. 40-45 years old, 5’8” tall, medium build, with wire rim glasses, a mustache and a pock-mark face.
