One person has died as a result of injuries sustained in a rollover accident on I-25 south of Pueblo Tuesday evening. The victim has been identified as Patrick Martinez, 37, from Walseburg. He was riding in the passenger seat of a white Navigator SUV.
The woman driving the white Navigator, Alain Martinez, 27, received only minor injuries. There were also two young children in the SUV, but police say they were buckled into safety seats and were not hurt.
The accident closed one lane in each direction on I-25 near mile marker 92, about three miles south of Pueblo.
Police say the SUV was northbound when it drifted onto the right shoulder. The driver over-corrected, and the Navigator went across the freeway and into the median, where it rolled over one-and-a-half times.
Police say speed may have been a factor in the crash, but alcohol and drugs are not considered possible causes. The crash is still under investigation.
