A pedestrian who was hit by a light rail train in Denver Tuesday is expected to recover.

The unnamed pedestrian was grazed by the train just after 6 a.m. south of downtown Denver.

Police at first thought the train may have hit an animal. An hour later, police were able to locate a man at the Mariposa lgith-rail operations facility.

According to police, the man had been walking over the fly-over at First Avenue and Santa Fe Drive when he was struck by the passing train. He was taken to the hospital, but the injuries are not life threatening.

The train was closed during the investigation.
