The Government Accountability Office is asking the F-C-C to update it's cell phone radiation standards.
They want to raise the limits by 20-percent-- which is the International standard-- saying, smartphone usage is dictating the request.
Their reasoning is that people use cell phones in other capacities more than ever-- rather than just talking with their phones next to their ear.
The GAO raised the issue at the request of three Senators who feel lower radiation standards equal more costs for consumers.
According to the GAO, the highly enforced lower radiation limits limit cell phone function.
