A Fort Carson sergeant is being held on $25,000 bond after allegedly being caught in sting operations targeting Internet predators.

Authorities say 33-year-old Sergeant Gregory A.-Sallee used Internet chat rooms to try to arrange meetings with minors for sex in Mesa and Jefferson counties.

Sallee is assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team.

He's jailed in Grand Junction on suspicion of attempted sexual exploitation of a child.

Actually, Jack, they can be convicted and most of them are. There is a little thing called "intent". Of course, the sentences won't be as severe as if it actually were a child they were chatting with, but there are sentences and they will be tagged as convicted sex offensers.

To a GI Joe, I notice that, its always an airman or a soldier they report on. they rarely report on the creepy guy who lives with his mom on my street, or the local rich guy, its always exclusive to soldiers. Does the local news hate the soldiers they highly proclaim to support? then why do this? As for that Dateline thing, the guy who hosts it is just as creepy as the people he catches. Im not sure any of them can be convicted since no children are actually involved. I liken it to stock fraud.

Dateline is not going to save your kid. Parents need to know what their kid is doing on the Internet and to teach their kids not to be stupid.

A Fort Carson Soldier...... It always starts the same way. I never read" A McDonalds Employee...." Soldiers are not allowed to defend themselves by regulations which makes them an easy and sensational target. Sometime I would like to see a headline that said " A Fort Carson Soldier died protecting your freedom to practice yellow journalism"
