3 Plead Guilty In Pueblo Baby Case

Three people have been sentenced to probation after in what initially appeared to be negotiations over selling a baby.

The sentences, handed down this week, stem from a case that began in February when a woman was accused of trying to sell her five-month-old son to a married couple.

Court testimony indicated that money exchanged between the woman and the couple was not contingent on the baby's adoption, and prosecutors dropped all charges but the misdemeanors.

Jose Juan Lerma, Irene Lerma, and Nicole Uribe-Lopez each pleaded guilty to having a false document notarized to reflect that Lerma was the father of Uribe's child.

The baby remains with Pueblo County social services representatives.

Probation? What about extradition back to Mexico? The judicial system in Colorado is too soft. It's no wonder crime is getting out of hand here, especially in Colorado Springs.
