Al Gore's son has been arrested in California on suspicion of possessing marijuana and prescription drugs, after he was stopped for speeding.

Authorities say Al Gore the Third was driving a Toyota Prius at about 100 miles-an-hour on the San Diego Freeway when he was pulled over at about 2:15 Wednesday morning.

Deputies say they smelled marijuana and searched the car. They say they found less than an ounce of pot along with Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and a prescription drug that is used for attention deficit disorder.

Sheriff's officials say Gore does not have a prescription for any of those drugs.

Gore is being held in Santa Ana, with bail set at $20,000.
