The investigation into the deaths of two teens who died in a gas tank explosion near Steamboat Springs is continuing.

The Rio Blanco County undersheriff says they were both smoking cigarettes at the time. Investigators are checking whether those cigarettes or ashes from them ignited vapors from the tank, triggering the explosion.

But they are looking into whether a campfire 30 feet away or static electricity provided the spark for the explosion.

There were about 20 other teens at the party Saturday night when the tank exploded.
