President Bush has vetoed a bill that would have eased restraints on federally-funded embryonic stem cell research.

The bill's leading advocate, Colorado Democratic Representative Diana DeGette, said earlier this month when Congress passed the bill that Bush was being stubborn for opposing it.

Today, Democrats were quick to denounce Bush's decision.

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York called the veto "just one example of how the president puts ideology before science, politics before the needs of our families."
