Trooper Remembered As Loving, Dedicated

A state trooper killed in an off-duty traffic accident was remembered Saturday as a loving family man and a dedicated public servant.

Mark Dold of Durango died October 14th when his motorcycle collided with a deer on U.S. 550.

About a thousand mourners attended a memorial service Saturday in a Fort Lewis College gymnasium.

Hundreds of law enforcement and military officers and emergency responders were there.

The 49-year-old Dold was a 20-year veteran of the Navy, where he was a flight instructor and also served in Iraq in 2003.

He was a commander in the Naval Reserve when he retired.

Survivors include his parents, wife, two sons and a daughter.
