No American casualties have been reported so far after a violent attack on a U.S. base in Afghanistan early Monday morning.
The base is located near the border with Pakistan.
Officials say the attack by a group of suicide bombers led to multiple explosions, a gunfight and the closure of a key road used by NATO supply trucks. Local police say several U.S. Army vehicles were also torched.
Three suicide bombers in Afghan army uniforms reportedly began the attack in a parking lot. One is said to have detonated his explosives in the area where NATO supply trucks were parked, and the other two began exchanging gunfire with police and NATO forces. All three attackers were killed.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
