Tonight Fort Carson has taken over the case of Montrell Mayo.
He's accused of killing his girlfriend on Valentine's Day.
Kimberly walker's body was found days later at the Crowne Plaza in Colorado Springs.
An autopsy showed she had been strangled to death.
Both Mayo and Walker are soldiers, so Fort Carson will try the case.
If Mayo is found guilty he could spend the rest of his life in prison.

The Fort Carson soldier suspected in a slaying at a hotel has returned to Colorado Springs.
Sgt. Montrell Mayo, a supply specialist with the 759th Military Police Battalion, turned himself in to investigators in Greenville, North Carolina on Feb. 17 just hours after the body of his girlfriend was discovered in one of the rooms at the Crowne Plaza.
Investigators believe Cpl. Kimberly Walker was killed a few days before her body was found. An autopsy revealed she was strangled to death.
Records show Mayo is being held at the CJC without bond. His attorney made an appearance on his behalf in a video advisement Friday.
