Soldiers filled the Fort Carson auditorium Tuesday morning to hear information about scams designed to take advantage of military families. The speakers were Colorado Attorney General John Suthers and Holly Patreus, the wife of retired Major General David Patraeus.

The AG says many of the scams targeting military families deal with real estate, since they move so frequently. Some of the scams include tell lies about military service designed to facilitate sympathy and trust.

"We’re particularly angered when people take advantage of someone that is serving our country and making such tremendous sacrifices for us,” Suthers said.

"We all want to see them succeed and succeed financially. It is great to partner with the state agencies, like the Attorney General of Colorado, to work together to see what we can do to put them on a better financial footing,” Patraeus said.
