A plan to help homeless veterans in southern Colorado has the support of the Pueblo City Council, the group announced Thursday.

The council unanimously approved a resolution that supports efforts to repurpose the Fort Lyon campus in Las Animas into a center that would provide transitional housing, support services and vocational training for 300 homeless individuals.

Governor Hickenlooper has also requested more than $2.7 million to operate the program.
