More than 300 soldiers from Fort Carson gathered for a deployment ceremony Tuesday morning. Over the next few weeks, they’ll be heading to Afghanistan to work on the training of the Afghan National Security Forces.

In preparation for their mission, the Security Forces Assistance Teams from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team underwent cultural training for the last three months.

Their deployment ceremony was held at 10:00 Tuesday morning in the Special Event Center on Fort Carson. Their mission is scheduled to last nine months.

My son is one of the soldiers deploying from ft Carson and my other son is already deployed. Both are fine men who've never been in trouble. They choose the military to put themselves through college. Both volunteered for deployment. It is devastating to say good bye to your child not knowing if they will return to you. I sleep an hour or two each night and am devastated to be away from my children knowing they are in harms way. How dare you!

At Army Wife. Do you even know what opsec is? It's operation security. They preach to us not to talk about deployment or troop movements, yet they post it on here. Nothing was said from the first two about you husband.

We need to quit pouring U.S. lives and money into other countries when we don't even have our own house in order! Thank you to those who serve to protect OUR freedom, but I am tired of all of the money and lives wasted trying to save the world when they don't want or can't save themselves. We have so many problems in the U.S. that need attention.

You three should be ashamed of yourselves. The actions of a few do not reflect on the entire Army as a whole. My husband is a very honorable man and serves his country without fail. At the end of that, he comes home to serve the community and his family.

Army Wife, ignore them. There are those of us out here who have total respect for you, your husband and the US Army. We appreciate all that you do, the sacrifice you all make to protect our way of life and are very grateful. THey don't speak for everyone.

Over the next nine months, the city of Colorado Springs will be a little bit safer, less crime, less fights, less frustrations. Read between the lines, and deal with it!
