WASHINGTON (AP) -- A spokesman for the international military force in Afghanistan says findings from an investigation into the burning of Muslim holy books at a NATO base may come out as early as Wednesday.

German Brig. Gen. Carsten Jacobson told reporters at the Pentagon by video-teleconference from Kabul that Afghan authorities joined the probe of what he called a mistaken burning of religious materials, including Qurans.

He said the incident, which led to two days of demonstrations across Afghanistan, has "grave implications" for the war effort. He stressed that the burning was an error and that those responsibility will be held accountable.

Jacobson said the findings of the investigation should be known by Thursday at the latest and that the international coalition would issue a "very clear statement" of what happened.

And yet our government burns BIBLES by the thousands and they never apologize to Christians. If I had the link handy, I would post it for you all. What a bunch of hypocrites [the govt, and Obama]!

I didn't see any dear Muslims "investigating" the beheading of our missionaries!! Which is more important a book that says go kill everybody that disagrees with you or a human being?? Oh, he didn't count--he was an infidel. I am sick of this "politiaally correct" hog wash!! Print another hate filled book and go on with your life. My answer to the "protesters"--send them a lite grenade!!

As told on the news - the older versions of the books were burned - replaced by the new versions. It's par for the course to burn older, outdated versions of books. I don't think the soldiers were aware that according to Muslims - the Quran should be buried or placed in running water?

These books if you investigate further had messages in them from inmates. They were exploiting the use of these books to communicate and plot against their captors. The soldiers did nothing wrong by burning these books and if you really look and know happened, they burned bibles as well as the unholy violent teachings of the false profit mohammad. They exploited religious books to communicate and plot. Muslims need to stop playing victim because history shows they are not victims but have created millions of victims through the centuries with their unholy war on civil societies that don't live in the stone age. I laugh when women especially code pink type feminist cows support them and their oppression of women.

We Americans are used to seeing our flag, the Bible, and photos of our president burned and defiled. And still we are expected to turn the other cheek.....

Lorelei, Google "Voice of the Martyrs" and educate yourself. Christians have far more than their Bibles burned. That doesn't mean that I agree with burning of anyone's book. As Christians we're suppose to demonstrate love towards others. I don't think deliberately provoking a group (by burning their books)to wrath is a good way of going about that.
