President Barack Obama will thank the U.S. military for its lengthy commitment to the war in Iraq next week during a speech to troops at Fort Bragg.

All U.S. troops will leave Iraq by the end of the year. Ahead of that milestone, the White House says Obama wants to speak directly to troops and their families to offer his appreciation for their service and sacrifice.

Michelle Obama will accompany the president when he travels to the North Carolina Army post next Wednesday.

The president, along with Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden, will also help mark the end of the war by attending the annual Army vs. Navy football game in the Washington area on Saturday.

This is a bad mistake on Obama's part to pull out of Iraq prematurely. He wants to cut spending? How about the $34 Billion Dollars a year in assistance at the expense of the American Taxpayers going to illegal immigrants. We need to keep funding our Dept of Defense and keep our troop strength. What Obama is doing is going to destroy our Country. Quit giving handouts to Pakistan and the rest of the Middle East; quit supporting illegal immigrants and their anchor babies. Secure the borders, and deport all the illegal immigrants in our country. Obama has no idea what he is doing and is more focused on campaigning for an election he has already lost. Obama you need to go.

i suppose the illegal immigrants are taking all the jobs too. deport all the illegals will make the price of groceries and produce soar. why is that? because the proud man don't want to work without benefits and there paid vacations and sick leave, oh even unemployment. will you work in a field for hours with little pay?

It's just political posturing by Barry. The Iraqis aren't ready for us to leave. Barry is creating a devastating situation all in an attempt to get reelected. The Country will sink into sectarian violence and all the American lives lost there will be for nothing.

Too bad President Bush already took the cool aircraft carrier landing for the same announcement. Maybe Obama can pop out of a tank.

yeah, too bad Bush declared that war on Iraq with NO reason, then declared it a "victory" for no more reason...Thank you President Obama for ending this nonsense!Let's leave the Afghan people alone as well! You cannot export democracy, it is not a commodity...and these tribes don't want it, obviously!

It has nothing to do with "defense." We are an offensive nation but if they call it the "Dept of Defense" you won't think so.

You freaking people, you have no idea how to defend a country... All you did was weaken a nation today!
